This.

James Bolivar DiGriz, alias “The Stainless Steel Rat”, is the fictional hero of a series of humorous science fiction novels written by Harry Harrison (1925 – 2012). The character is a quick-witted con man with a strong sense of morality, and was the protagonist of twelve novels. (via)

A friend of Harrison said:  ”Imagine Pirates of the Caribbean or Raiders of the Lost Ark, and picture them as science-fiction novels. They’re rip-roaring adventures, but they’re stories with a lot of heart.” (via)

I would be curious to read this book one day.

Simply one of my favourite science-fiction series of all time…
If you’ve never read one of the Stainless Steel Rat books then you have simply not read one the defining greats of the genre, as important in its own way as Asimov ‘s Robots or anything by Clark.
